Upon order of the President of Kazakhstan, country's Prime Minister Karim Massimov will arrive in the Aksus district of Almaty region to get acquainted with the situation caused by flood in the village of Kizil-Agash on Saturday morning, March.13, the press service of akim of the region told Trend .
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as a result of flood at least 20 people died in Almaty region, in southern Kazakhstan.
Abundant rainfalls and melting snow in Almaty region led to the erosion of dam, break in Kizil-Agash water reservoir. Homes under-flooded in some villages, hundreds of people were evacuated from the affected areas. Rail transport stopped, roads closed in the region because of floods.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev ordered to organize a government commission to eliminate subsequences of flood and support the victims. The President expressed condolences to relatives of the victims.
