Bucharest celebrated Novruz holiday with the support of Azerbaijani Embassy in Romania and representation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Romania March 21.
Opening the event ambassador Eldar Hasanov told the participants about the special place of Novruz holiday among the Azerbaijani people's customs and traditions.
The ambassador also said initiative in connection with adoption of resolution by the UN General Assembly on "International Day of Novruz" was made by Azerbaijan and according to this resolution March 21 first is recognized as International Day of Novruz.
Former ambassador of Romania in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan Tasin Cemil informed the participants about Novruz holiday in detail.
Then a concert program with participation of the soloist of the Azerbaijan State Theatre of Mugam Sadagat Guluyeva, who was accompanied by a musical group, as well as the famous Romanian musician Marcel Pavel was held.
The event was attended by the Prime Minister of Romania Emil Bok, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament John Oltean, Presidential Adviser for National Security of Romania Iulian Fota, other high officials, senators and deputies, prominent figures of religion, culture and art, accredited ambassadors in Bucharest and diplomats of foreign countries, the Iranian Azerbaijanis and representatives of Turkish and Tatar society, the representation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Romania, the Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, Romanian-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce and Industry, members of public organizations and foundations of Romania, employees of the SOCAR representation in Romania, our compatriots residing in Romania, including Azerbaijani students studying in this country, representatives of the media outlets.
