The U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat in cooperation with experts from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) launched a series of workshops in Turkmenistan for the State Anti-Drug Control Service (SSTCD).

The basic course covers drug tests, surveillance, undercover operations, interviewing and interrogation techniques, operations planning, working with informers and financial investigations.

The aim of the activities is to provide the SSTCD with basic knowledge on investigations and operations in combating narcotics.

"Recently we saw the mutual benefit of our cooperation on combating drug smuggling. We hope to continue our cooperation in drug control, export control and in other corresponding border security programs," U.S. Embassy Charge d'Affaires Sylvia Curran said at the opening of the workshop."
