A declaration was adopted at the first international ceremony in Iran in connection with United Nations' conferring international status upon Novruz Holiday, Iranian news channel İRİNN reported.
The declaration expresses the consent of the celebrations participating countries on the establishment of a secretariat in Tehran to conduct activities in connection with Novruz Holiday, as well as activities on International Day of Novruz in each country in turn.
The declaration expresses gratitude to the UN, UNESCO and the Organization for Economic Cooperation for adopting documents regarding Novruz.
The U.N. has given an international holiday status to the Novruz holiday. Novruz celebration ceremony has been organized in Iran at state level. In connection with that the state officials of the Novruz holiday celebrating countries have been invited to the event. The event, which began March 27 in Tehran, will continue till March 28.
Upon completion of the first international Novruz ceremony in Iran, "Novruz" postage stamps were presented. The stamps were signed by the presidents of Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Iran, and the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and the State Minister of Turkey who attended the celebrations.
