As a result of operative-search measures by the
National Security Ministry (NSM) of Azerbaijan an illegal selling of unique, historical and priceless pieces, belonging to the B.C. and early years A.D., was prevented.
The ministry was informed that, a group of people want to sell 3 historical art pieces, made from gold and gem, in Baku city and those pieces have been estimated at $350,000 by specialists.
As a result of operative-search measures held in March 18, 2010 two golden animal statuette and one very old, stone and unique art rod, more precisely, axe used as a symbol of power was taken from resident of Tartar region, born in 1980 Allahverdiyev Arif Allahyar.
In addition, as a result of other operative-search measures six historical, art pieces, as well as one golden lion head statuette, one golden animal statuette, one turquoise human statuette sitting on gazelle, one bronze statuette and two bronze human statuettes were taken from Azerbaijani citizens Yusifov Hafiz Mustafa born in 1983, Rzayev Rizvan Abbas born in 1973 and Gurbanov Mazahir Alakbar born in 1956. It was discovered that they wanted to sell these priceless pieces for $ 250,000.
In order to identify the history and value of the ancient handicraft pearls, the views of professionals in this sphere have been studied. It was made clear that the pearls belong to BC and initial periods AD. Currently the investigation of the professionals is continuing.
The head investigation department of the Ministry has filed a criminal case in accordance with article 206.3.2 (smuggling of cultural-historical resources by a group of persons upon initial agreement) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Allahverdiyev Arif, Aliyev Zaur, Mirzayev Ahmad were detained as suspect.
Investigation activities are continuing to reveal all cases and other participants of the crime.
