Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office sends request to Constitutional Court

Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code establishes criminal liability for unlawful acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of firearms, its component parts, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices. At the same time, this liability is excluded in respect of smooth-bore hunting weapons and its ammunition, CC told Trend News.

Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office appealed to the Constitutional Court (CC) with a request in connection with the interpretation of articles 228.1, 229, 230, 231 and 232 of the Criminal Code.

Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code establishes criminal liability for unlawful acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of firearms, its component parts, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices. At the same time, this liability is excluded in respect of smooth-bore hunting weapons and its ammunition, CC told Trend .

As an exception was not provided for articles 229, 230, 231 and 232 of the Criminal Code, the General Prosecutor's Office has asked the CC to provide clarification in relation with the exceptions to these articles.

The request was discussed and adopted at a meeting of the CC Chamber.

The request of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office will be discussed April 22.
