"Georgia fights an evil. The country stands for good and good will win in this fight, as good always triumphs over evil," Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said in the David Gareji village bordering with Azerbaijan, where he celebrated Easter in a local monastery.

"Georgia is now engaged in the fight of David and Goliath. We are fighting a great evil, but Georgia is on the side of the good," he said.

The president added that "we all should know that no matter how strong evil may look, we should never go with them for reconciliation and compromise."

Saakashvili cited the biblical subjects and said Georgia is also struggling against evil, in the same way as David fought Goliath.

"Our struggle is just, and Georgia will achieve victory as David defeated Goliath. The Easter holiday, as a celebration of the victory of good over evil, also teaches us this lesson," he added.
