The Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili awarded Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II the 'Presidential Order of Lights'. Saakashvili presented the order to Ilia II following the concert in the State Philharmonic, the presidential press service reported.

The Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili awarded Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II the 'Presidential Order of Lights'. Saakashvili presented the order to Ilia II following the concert in the State Philharmonic, the presidential press service reported.

Last night, Georgian opera singer Ivano Tamar Alibegashvili, who came to Georgia especially for this, performed new chant "Ave Maria" of Ilia II at the State Philharmonic.

The president noted that it is "very strong" work and the first Orthodox chants on "Ave Maria".
Saakashvili attended the concert with his spouse Sandra Roelofs.

The president awarded the new order of 16 well-known figures, including Dr. Freedon Todua, rector of the Conservatory Manana Doidzhashvili, writer Guram Dochanashvili, teacher Lamara Margvelashvili, diplomat Ekaterina Mikadze and architect Michele De Rays, who created the project in Georgia, the presidential palace, the new building of the Ministry of the Interior and a new bridge on the Europe square.
