Turkmenistan and Iran share the same views on regional and international disarmament policies.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov made the statement at a recent meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
He voiced his opinion in connection with a Turkmen delegation's participation in an international disarmament conference in Tehran.
Turkmenistan plans to hold a disarmament forum in Central Asia early this year. U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon previously supported this initiative during his recent visit to the country.
The Turkmen president reiterated the importance of Turkmenistan strengthening ties with its immediate neighbors, especially Iran.
"Many projects have been implemented successfully during our long-term cooperation," he said.
