The Ganja Region Police Department's employees arrested seven-people organized criminal group suspected of manufacturing and selling counterfeit jewelry, misappropriation of large sums of money from citizens and banks by giving these products as pledge, the Interior Ministry reported.

"The arrested cheated the people by giving them gilt silver as gold of 583 carat. The police revealed about 2 kilograms of counterfeit gold from suffered as material evidence. The investigation found that criminal group's head 26-year-old resident of Ganja (365 kilometers west of Baku) Anar Hasanov entered into a criminal agreement with Gulnar Allahverdiyeva and manufactured fake gold," the report says.

Hasanov manufactured necklaces and bracelets of different shapes from raw materials containing silver, and covered them with gold in his house's basement. Then he put on the fake goods fake stamp of 583 carat with the help of a special apparatus. Meanwhile, Allahverdiyeva attracted her friends Rovshan Gasimov, Sahib Aliyev, Tofiq Salmanov, Vusal Mammadov and Vusala Hasanova to an organized group. These people gave the fake gold as pledge to various citizens instead of a large sum of money.

In addition, Hasanov mortgaged the fake products in the bank where he worked as an expert jeweler and misappropriated about 10,000 manat.

The investigation also revealed that the criminal group managed to send about 5 kilograms of the fake gold jewelry to Russia with a woman named Tarana.

The police also seized different devices, tools and raw materials as material evidence from Hasanov's house.

The police department launched a criminal case into the fact. It is assumed that fake jewelry was put into circulation in Baku and other regions of the country.
