Official Kazakh structures have not confirmed information about the detention of two Azerbaijani poaching vessels in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea.

The structures did not confirm information about the detention of the vessels. Allegedly 18 Azerbaijani citizens were on board, the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Aktau told Trend.

Two Azerbaijani poaching vessels with more than 500 kilograms of fish sturgeon were detained in the Caspian Sea, Atyrau Region Interior Department Spokeswoman Gulnazira Mukhtarova told Kazakhstan Today earlier.

"During joint operations of interior departments, environmental prosecutors, border guards and other services in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea, two Azerbaijani vessels with 18 Azerbaijani citizens on board were detained. According to preliminary calculations, there were more than 500 kilograms of fish sturgeon in the holds of the ships," Mukhtarova said.

The Azerbaijani Consulate General in Aktau appealed to the relevant structures, but no Kazakh structures have approved the information.
