Georgian and Egyptian FMs discuss several issues

There is a serious intensification of relations between Georgia and Egypt since 2009, Georgian foreign minister Grigol Vashadze said at a joint press conference with Egyptian counterpart  Ahmed Aboul Gheit in Tbilisi.

He said that it is primarily concerned with the development of diplomatic relations, education and economy.

"Egyptian universities have re-prepared several Georgian diplomats, as well as several qualified experts in the field of health, agriculture. Today we have agreed that this process will continue," Vashadze said.

He said that Egypt has a "balanced position" towards territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Georgia. Vashadze thanked his colleague for this.

In his turn, Gheit said that Egyptian businessmen show interest in Georgia.

"We also discussed the situation in the South Caucasus, security issues, the Georgian-Russian relations," he said, emphasizing that peace efforts on the Syrian-Israeli-Palestinian settlement process were also discussed.
