Georgia takes advantage of the undoubted support of France in the EU, Mikheil Saakashvili told journalists today after meeting with his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris.

"France is doing everything possible for Georgia to become part of Europe, and this support is comprehensive," he said, expressing gratitude to Sarkozy.

It should be noted that the Georgian head held the briefing in the courtyard of the presidential palace.
Saakashvili said that the meeting discussed issues of bilateral relations, non-fulfilment of agreement on ceasefire signed August 12, 2008 by Russia, as well as Georgia's integration into NATO, France's aid to Georgia. "We have reached an understanding on all the issues, and it will soon turn into reality," he said.

Saakashvili also thanked the first lady of France Carla Bruni, which now closely communicates with his wife Sandra Roelofs. "This is the first visit when our country is so well represented in France as the first persons and cultures, as Paris holds the Days of Culture of Georgia these days," he said.

Saakashvili stressed that he had important meetings that contribute to the further intensification of relations between Georgia and France.
