Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received a delegation headed by EP Foreign Relations Committee Deputy Chairman Fiorello Provera, the press service of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
During the meeting, the guest noted that the rapid development of Azerbaijan, a modern and secular country, provides additional opportunities to develop relations with European countries.
Mammadyarov expressed satisfaction with Provera's next visit to Azerbaijan and appreciated European Parliament's resolution "EU strategy in South Caucasus" adopted May 20, which supports Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
Mammadyarov said that he supports intensifying efforts of the international community to stop the aggressive policy of Armenia, in particular calls for the impossibility of maintaining the status-quo in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, which the resolution adopted on May 20 also requires.
Provera assessed the forceful change of borders of sovereign states in the 21st century as an unacceptable violation. The sides exchanged views on energy, trade, and on various issues of mutual interest.
