OSCE adopts summit resolution

The Nineteenth Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly adopted a resolution on holding the 2010 OSCE Summit, the Kazakh Parliamentary Press Service reported.

"The parliamentary assembly calls upon member states to hold the OSCE Summit in 2010, which should provide a significant contribution to strengthening security and cooperation in Europe and Eurasia in all three dimensions of the OSCE and to enable the organization to play a role in the field of European and Eurasian security in the 21st century," the press service reported.

The assembly also adopted resolutions on the situation in Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan, taking into account the recommendations of the Trans-Asian Parliamentary Eurasian Dimension of the OSCE Forum in Almaty in May.

The MPs called on the OSCE to continue close cooperation with the U.N., the EU and the Council of Europe to establish stability in Kyrgyzstan.
