President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today inaugurated a new administrative building of the Central Election Commission (CEC), AzerTAj state news agency reported.

The President congratulated the Commission's members and employees on the occasion.

"A beautiful, majestic building has been built for the Central Election Commission. This is a great event, that is, you will have appropriate working conditions. The building is distinguished by its beauty. I will now look inside, but to my knowledge, the condition inside is good as well. We are taking all necessary measures to ensure that your work is organized better. I am very glad that the Central Election Commission has made great successes in its activities over recent years. The Commission has very important functions. Azerbaijan already has considerable experience in conducting elections. We study and use the best experiences in Azerbaijan. The whole activities are conducted in accordance with international standards. The process of holding elections in Azerbaijan improves each year, the transparency is completely ensured, and people freely and independently express their will," said President Ilham Aliyev.

The President said much depended on CEC activities.

"Azerbaijan has joined all international conventions and successfully cooperates with international organizations to further improve the electoral process. Today, the electoral process in Azerbaijan already complies with European standards. I am confident that the upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan will also be held fairly, the will of the people will be reflected in full scale and thus, a new important step will be made in the process of democracy development in Azerbaijan. Once again I congratulate you on this wonderful event. Both architects and builders have worked on this project for many years. Of course, I wanted the outside view of building to be beautiful, a good place to be chosen, and at the same time, inside conditions to be good. With regards to the place, then this remote district of Baku has become closer to the center, the metro line was laid recently, a new station was opened. So, to get here is easy. In addition, these buildings are being repaired. The building of the Migration Service was opened around. This area will become a kind of new administrative center of Baku.
Once again I congratulate you," said the President.

Later, the Head of State cut the ribbon symbolizing the official opening of the building, and then viewed it.

The 9-storied facility is 39 meters in height, and occupies a total area of 9,600 square meters.
The building features a library, archive, conference halls, a special room for video surveillance of polling stations, and the "Sechkiler" Information Center.
