"Today, the Azerbaijani-French relations are on the path of comprehensive development. Our steps aimed at strengthening bilateral relations are accompanied by an active and fruitful cooperation both bilaterally and through ongoing programs of the European Union," said Ilham Aliyev in his letter to Sarkozy.
The President said in his letter the humanitarian sphere takes an important place in a wide range of multilateral relations. In this sense, the activities within the "Season of Azerbaijani culture", which is scheduled to be held in France, will help Azerbaijani and French peoples know each other more closely, once again confirm that their national cultural heritage assumes universal significance.
"Mr. President, the continuing consequences of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which led to the violation of the territorial integrity of our country and the occupation of our lands, remain our most painful problem, said the Azerbaijani President. - We have high hopes for the efforts of France as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group and personally for Your efforts in prompt, peaceful and fair settlement of the conflict based on the norms of international law."
