Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov was invited to pay an official visit to Malaysia "at any time convenient to him".

Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato' Sri Anifah bin Haji Aman handed over invitation from his country's leadership - King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Prime Minister Tun Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi- during the meeting with Berdimuhammedov, the state press service reported.

"Malaysia sees Turkmenistan as one of the most important strategic partners, the interest towards which grows from year to year due to political and economic stability of the country and its openness to broad international cooperation," Haji Aman said.

"Turkmenistan is interested in establishing a full mutual cooperation with Malaysia that has a vast experience in implementing market reforms and attracting foreign investments," Berdimuhammedov said.

The sides discussed prospects of development of the Turkmen-Malaysian cooperation that has a great future with the rich potential and willingness of the parties to expand the traditional ties in all spheres.
