Ruling party deputy chairman: Uniting of two opposition parties in Azerbaijan ordered from outside

Azerbaijan, Baku, July 16 / Trend M. Aliyev /

Uniting of two opposition parties in Azerbaijan is an order from outside, deputy chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party Ali Akhmadov told media.

"These two parties had bad relations for the recent years. They nearly call each other to a duel. The decision gives reason to believe that it was adopted by decree from the outside,"  Akhmadov said.

Chairman of the Musavat Party, Isa Gambar, yesterday made a proposal to merge with the Party of Popular Front of Azerbaijan. This decision provoked a strong reaction from other parties within the bloc Azadliq. It was announced about the termination of the bloc's activity.

He said that the situation repeats. These attempts will fail too.

"People must be the source of support for political parties. Those who hope for success from outside support will fail," he said.

He said that there is no political force capable of competing with the ruling party New Azerbaijan in forthcoming parliamentary elections.

"Discord in the opposition more weakened the already weak Azerbaijani opposition", he said.

He said that the opposition pays much attention to internal conflicts. Opposition parties are competing with each other as they are not able to compete with the ruling party.
