OSCE chairman to participate in int'l conference on Afghanistan

OSCE Chairman and Kazakh Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev will participate in an international conference on Afghanistan in Kabul tomorrow, Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Ils Omarov told Trend.

OSCE Chairman and Kazakh Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev will participate in an international conference on Afghanistan in Kabul tomorrow, Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Ils Omarov told Trend.

He added that representatives of over 70 countries, international and regional organizations and financial institutions were invited to the event.

"A plan to improve the country's development, governance and stability will be presented to participants," Omarov said.

He said the Kabul conference will review the priorities of Afghan governmental policy, which are realized via national programs aimed at promoting economic growth and creating jobs.

"The event is organized to support the efforts of the Afghan authorities to establish peace, stability and prosperity in Afghanistan, " Omarov said.

He noted that Afghan President Hamid Karzai, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, Afghan Foreign Minister Z. Rasul and U.N. Special Envoy to Afghanistan S. De Mistura will speak at a conference.

"The international conference is a new stage of interaction between Afghanistan and the international community," Omarov said. "The conference's main goal is to mobilize international confidence in Afghanistan's National Development Strategy."
