Georgia, Tbilisi, July 21 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will present a new draft of the constitution to parliament today at an extraordinary parliamentary bureau meeting.

Parliament will form an organizational committee to review the constitutional amendments.

The commission will work one month. During the period, citizens will submit their comments. The commission will also discuss the amendments with various sections of society.

Parliament will begin reviewing the document in the autumn session.

The new constitution restricts presidential authorities by granting additional rights to parliament and the prime minister. The opposition believes the new constitution was written to allow Saakashvili to retain power after his second term as president in 2013 should he become PM.
