U.S. Congress delegation familiarized with priorities of Georgia’s defense sphere

A delegation of assistants to U.S. congressmen visited the Georgian Defense Ministry and was familiarized with the main priorities in the defense sphere. The delegation met with Deputy Defense Minister Nodar Kharshiladze and Nikoloz Vashakidze, the Georgian Defense Ministry Trend.
The U.S. Congress representatives were interested in the current reforms in the Ministry and in the specific issues in which Georgia needs the U.S. assistance. They highly appreciated the contribution of the Georgian military contingent in the peacekeeping operation in Afghanistan and thanked Georgia for its part in it.
During the visit, assistant to U.S. congressmen met with representatives of the parliamentary majority and minority, the Vice-Premier Giorgi Baramidze, other officials.
The delegation's visit ends Aug. 7.
