Azerbaijan, Baku, August 5 / Trend V. Zhavoronkova /

The Kyrgyz opposition's rallies in support of Urmat Baryktabasov will unlikely to exacerbate the situation in Kyrgyzstan, Russian expert on Kyrgyzstan, Alexander Knyazev, said.

"Today's events - rallies of supporters of criminal and political leader Urmat Baryktabasov do not mean any serious aggravation of the situation in Kyrgyzstan as a whole," Regional Program Coordinator, Senior Fellow at the Institute of Oriental Studies (Moscow, Russia ) Knyazev told Trend via e-mail.

A large convoy with supporters of Kyrgyz former presidential candidate Urmat Baryktobasov moves towards Bishkek. According to some reports, there are more than 200 vehicles, including buses and minibuses in a convoy.

Head of the information-coordination center of the interim government Farid Niyazov told media that security measures in Bishkek are strengthened. He noted that the republic's authorities do not intend to hamper kurultai in the capital, if it is peaceful and takes place within the law.

Supporters of the current authority also gathered near the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, RIA Novosti reported.

According to supporters of the opposition, their leader Urmat Baryktobasov and a convoy of buses were detained on the road Balykchy-Bishkek near the village of Kirshelk. Law enforcement officials, allegedly, do not allow a convoy to move to Bishkek. The meeting at the Old Square near the parliament is being held.

Referring to the operational data of security services, a representative of the government said that several hundred supporters of Baryktobasov, arriving earlier in Bishkek, are in an aggressive mood.

Knyazev said that the republic's leadership has every opportunity to solve a local conflict rapidly.

"Baryktabasov de jure is wanted for a long time both in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. The Prosecutor General's office of Kazakhstan sent a request to Kyrgyzstan to extradite him," the consultant at the Kazakh Institute for Political Decisions Knyazev said.

He said that Baryktabasov has Kyrgyz and Kazakh passports. It is a criminal offense, because the legislation of Kazakhstan excludes the dual citizenship.

Law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan have many questions to Baryktabasov, the expert said.

"Maybe, any attempts of Kyrgyz law enforcement agencies to respond to the request of Kazakh colleagues provoked Baryktabasov to organize current rallies under the alleged political slogans, Knyazev said. The task of the republic is to prevent any destabilization by neutralizing possible provocations by Baryktabasov's supporters, as well as explain people the current situation.

Knyazev said that it would be reasonable to disclose information about accusations made against him in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

Otherwise, taking into account the low activity of state structures in Kyrgyzstan, this may negatively affect on the situation in the country as a whole, expert said.
