Georgian women stand in solidarity with protests against public stoning of women in Iran, head of the Georgian Foundation Taso Marina Tabukashvili told Trend.

"We could not but react to this atrocity. It shocked the whole world. We could not but take part in a rally of solidarity with these women and express our protest against this savagery, when women were stoned to death," she said.

Tabukashvili said that the world should not be tolerated with such brutality and this fact must be properly convicted. I hope that these actions will be bigger. I am always ready to take part in them," she said.

Representatives of human rights organizations and a group of Georgian citizens held a rally in front of the State Chancellery in Tbilisi against the death penalty in the Islamic Republic of Iran. About two dozen people urged the Georgian authorities to clearly express the stance against the death penalty, torture and persecution of human rights defenders.

Participants of the action appeal to the Georgian president, speaker and foreign minister condemn the systematic use of death penalty and torture of people in Iran and ask the Georgian authorities to call for the Iranian leadership to stop such acts, especially against women and adolescents. The appeal was signed by all participants of the action individually.

It should be noted that this action was the third one during the last month. Previous actions were held in Batumi and Tbilisi. The actions are held in parallel with similar events held in the U.S., France and other countries.
