The Academic Council of the Tbilisi State University named after Ivane Javakhishvili elected former Minister of Health, Labour and Social Protection Alexander Kvitashvili the Acting Rector of the University.
All members of the Academic Council unanimously voted for him. Professor Nugzar Surguladze, who was elected two weeks ago, has left this post earlier.
According to Kvitashvili, he intends to prepare for the elections of the rector in two months and nominate for the post.
Former rector of Tbilisi State University Gia Khubua resigned after a scandal involving the theft of rare books from the library of the University.
