The Uzbek and UK parliaments will soon sign a memorandum of cooperation that could significantly strengthen interparliamentary ties, Chairman of the UK-Uzbekistan All-Party Parliamentary Group, Lord Waverley told the Uzbek Jahon state news agency.

He added that a series of reforms were recently passed in Uzbekistan to improve the parliament's role in society and politics.

"As an MP, I would like to note these reforms, which make MPs active in domestic and public affairs," Waverley said. "We look forward to a mutually beneficial cooperation with our colleagues in Uzbekistan."

He added that there are many prospects for trade and investment cooperation between the two countries with the support of the Uzbek-British Council of Trade and Industry.

"We expect to establish partnerships with new organizations in the UK and to define mutually beneficial directions of activity," Waverley said. "Along with the practical component, our parliamentary initiative implies legislative, legal and other possible ways of promoting trade, economic and investment cooperation between our two countries."
