A Polish mountain climber was injured while scaling the summit of Mount Kazbek in Georgia, the Department of Emergency Situations of the Georgian Interior Ministry said.

A Polish mountain climber was injured while scaling the summit of Mount Kazbek in Georgia, the Department of Emergency Situations of the Georgian Interior Ministry said.

A group of six tourists from Poland were also hit by avalanche on the 5,033-m peak, which is known in Georgian as Mkinvartsveri.

A Georgian Defense Ministry helicopter was been sent to Mkinvrtsveri rescue the Polish climbers and bring them to Tbilisi, the capital city.

The department said that the climber was injured but that his life is out of danger. He will be hospitalized.
