Azerbaijani President attends international environmental exhibition under motto 'Azerbaijan for the green world' (PHOTOS)
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended international environmental exhibition under the motto "Azerbaijan for the green world" on Sep. 17, AzerTAj state news agency reported.
The Head of State has put forward the environmental protection and creating a healthy environment as a priority issue. It is not accidental that 2010 was declared by President Ilham Aliyev the Year of Ecology in Azerbaijan, and the international environmental exhibition under the motto "Azerbaijan for the green world" is one of the measures implemented during the Year of Ecology.
The aim of the exhibition organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and supported by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources is to provide information about Azerbaijan's environmental sanitation programs and promote international networking.
The exhibition brought together some 30 local and international companies as well as governmental and NGO environmental advocacy groups.
Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Bagirov briefed President Aliyev on the exhibition. He pointed out the Ministry's environmental enhancement measures are in place. According to him, the forest area has been expanded notably over the past 15 years.
President Ilham Aliyev learnt that Israeli ODIS firm, which manufactures a large variety of filters and filtering systems for controlling water impurities, has a strong presence in Azerbaijan.
The President was informed about the activities of Caspian Technology Company, Turkey's Ekodenge Consulting, UK's waterman, US Azerbaijan International Mining Company, AIMROC.
President Ilham Aliyev saw a SOCAR's stand featuring the company's environmental sanitation activities.
BP is working on a number of new projects. The company set up a centralized system to build safe and effective business.
The Head of State viewed machines and gadgets to protect environment.
President Ilham Aliyev wished success to organizers and participants of the exhibition.
