The Azerbaijan Classic Popular Front may join the union between the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP) and Musavat Party, said the chairman of the board of the Musavat Party, Sulhaddin Akbar, has told Trend.
"After the unification of APFP and Musavat, we do not consider the unification process completed. We have to continue it. Our intention is an open-door policy. In the future, there are two possible versions: either the Classic Popular Front Party will join the negotiations, or the negotiations will be continued after the establishment of union," said Akbar.
Musavat head Isa Gambar proposed to unite the parties following the course of Rasulzadeh-Elchibey on July 15 at the 21st anniversary event of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan. The Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan reacted first to the proposal.
According to Akbar, a congress of the party will take place after November parliamentary elections.
"The board of Musavat Party in January decided to hold a congress. Because of the election campaign, the date of the congress was postponed. At the conclusion of the election campaign, preparatory work will begin for the congress, which, if possible, we will try to hold in the near future," said Akbar.
He said the congress of Musavat will take a positive decision on the union.
"The decision to unify is the responsibility of congress. I supported this decision during my speech at the congress of APFP. And before the congress, I was a supporter of union. I hope that in Musavat, this decision will be taken positively. I am confident the decision of the Musavat Party will be positive," said Akbar.
