Georgian National Olympic Committee President Gia Natsvlishvili does not agree with the conclusions of the Canadian court on the causes of death of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili. The athlete died after crashing during a training run and hitting a metal pole at the Vancouver Olympics.
"The carelessness and inexperience on the part of Kumaritashvili is out of question," Natsvlishvili told journalists today.
According to the Canadian court, Kumaritashvili died as a result of lack of professionalism and own mistake.
"This is certainly an accident, but the main problem in the complexity of the route, which was later remade," Natsvlishvili said. He did not rule out that the Canadian court's decision will be disputed, but the family of the deceased athlete will decide on it.
"We are in touch with his family and will inform the public about the decision," Natsvlishvili said.
