At present, over 359 people were registered as candidates in Azerbaijani parliamentary elections, Mazahir Panahov, chairman of the Central Election Commission, said.
"Over 1,399 candidates, ready to compete for MP mandate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, appealed to the district election commissions, of which 1,355 candidates got petitions to the CEC and 634 have already filled out and submitted them to the CEC," Panahov said.
Parliamentary elections are scheduled for Nov. 7. Previous legislative elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 electoral constituencies.
At present, the CEC registered 944 local observers to monitor the elections.
