Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct.6 / Trend S.Agayeva /

An Azerbaijani delegation will observe the upcoming parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan.

The Azerbaijani delegation will include MPs, Nizami Jafarov, Rufat Guliyev and Safar Mammadov, as well as two representatives of the Central Election Commission (CEC), an advisor in the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, Ilgar Jabbarov, has told Trend.

Azerbaijani observers will monitor the elections in Bishkek and Chui regions of Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyzstan will hold parliamentary elections on Oct. 10, 2010. The legislative body has not been functioning in the country since April when it was dissolved by the new leadership of the country after an uprising. The elections will allow the parliament and a full-fledged government to fill a power vacuum in the country.

Five Azerbaijanis living in Kyrgyzstan are standing Kyrgyz parliamentary elections to be held in October, Jabbarov has told Trend earlier.

The candidates are Azerbaijani Diaspora Chairman Akif Alaferdiyev, lawyer Arif Alaferdiyev, assistant to the mayor of Bishkek Vladimir Abulgasimov, student Farhad Aliyev and employee of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Leyla Hajiyeva.

All candidates are nominated from the five of the 29 political parties in Kyrgyzstan which are running in the parliamentary elections.

It is estimated that 20,000 Azerbaijanis reside in Kyrgyzstan.
