Uzbekistan ready to cooperate with EU based on equality, non-intervention to internal affairs and mutual respect of interests

Uzbekistan supports implementation of the EU Strategy for Central Asia on condition that interest of each country will be taken into account, the Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov said within the fourth round of political consultations between Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Italy.

Uzbekistan supports implementation of the EU Strategy for Central Asia on condition that interest of each country will be taken into account, the Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov said within the fourth round of political consultations between Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Italy.

According to Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry, Uzbek Foreign Minister confirmed principle position on readiness of Uzbekistan to long-term and constructive cooperation with the European Union based on equality, non-intervention to internal affairs and mutual respect of interests.

Norov held negotiations with the Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini in Rome within the fourth round of political consultations between Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Italy.

Uzbekistan Foreign Ministry said that the sides exchanged opinion on current state and perspectives of bilateral cooperation in politics, trade economic and culture-humanitarian spheres, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

In particular, the sides considered situation in Afghanistan, preserving peace and stability in Central Asia, ecologic threat.

Italian Foreign Minister underlined that Rome is considering Uzbekistan as important partner in Central Asia. Frattini highly rated current level of relations between Uzbekistan and Italy, interaction of two states within international organizations. In the result of the consultations, the sides agreed to hold next round of consultations between foreign ministries in Tashkent in 2011.
