The necessary conditions were created to hold democratic elections in Azerbaijan, Ali Akhmadov, deputy chairman and executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, said at a press conference.
"The necessary legal basis was created to hold democratic parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani government has also created the necessary environment to hold elections in accordance with democratic norms and values. A vivid example is the desire of political parties in Azerbaijan to participate in the electoral process," Akhmadov said.
Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan will be held on November 7.
He said that all candidates of the party, except some of them, were registered.
"We nominated candidates in 114 constituencies. About 112 candidates of candidates, nominated by the party, were registered as candidates after passing all the rules of procedure. The New Azerbaijan Party got the right to participate in parliamentary elections as a party by registering its candidates in more than 61 constituencies in accordance with the requirements of the Electoral Code, " he said.
He said that candidates, nominated by the party, have authority in the Azerbaijani society.
"About 48 people among our candidates represent the New Azerbaijan Party and Azerbaijani people in the current parliament. Five of them are active members of the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences, three corresponding members, 10 rectors of higher educational institutions. There are 24 women among the candidates. All our candidates have great authority in the society, " he said.
