Over the first nine months of this year, the State Traffic Police officers in Azerbaijan have identified 761,017 cases of traffic violations, the Head State Traffic Police Department of the Interior Ministry told Trend on Tuesday. Amongst the violations registered, 17,399 cases related to driving car in an in a drunken state, 96,231 - exceeding the speed limit, 17,275 - violation of the rules on overtaking, 38,030 - violation of right of way at an intersection, 5,336 - violation of the rules of passenger transportation.
For violation of traffic rules, 81,268 drivers have been fined on the scene, 2,244 drivers have been limited in their rights to drive for different periods. During the reporting period, 1,906 accidents, killing 140, injured 1,990 people, have been recorded.
Compared with the same period of the last year, the number of accidents decreased by 69 cases (3.5%), the number of deaths - 2 persons (0.3%), the wounded - 114 people (5.4%).
