The pedestrian accidents hit about 37.9 percent (723 cases) among traffic accidents registered in Azerbaijan for the first nine months of this year, the Head Traffic Police Department told Trend.
About 228 pedestrians died, 558 were injured as a result of these accidents. About 77 road accidents occurred because pedestrians violated traffic rules.
About 50 children and adolescents died, 197 people were injured as a result of traffic accidents registered in the republic.
About 32 pedestrians died. About 112 pedestrians were injured.
About 42.8 percent (816 cases) occurred as a result of driving at high speed, 23.7 percent (452 cases) - as a result of overtaking, 8 percent (154 cases) - violation of traffic rules, 2.5 percent (47 cases) - driving while intoxicated.
