A monument to great Turkmen poet and philosopher Makhtumkuli Fraghi was inaugurated in the Turkish city of Yozgat, the Turkmen local media reported.

The monument was made by Turkish sculptor Professor Ferit Ozshen. It was installed in the beautiful park "Copanoglu" in the center of Yozgat

The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of the Turkmen Embassy in the Turkish Republic, Turkish parliament, the province and city of Yozgat, the Turkmen-Turkish Friendship Society, academia, media and general public. The ceremony participants laid bouquets of flowers at the monument.

The report noted that the opening of the monument to Makhtumkuli Fraghi in Turkey is another great page in the history of the traditional Turkmen-Turkish cultural contacts and new symbol of friendly relations between the Turkmen and Turkish peoples, whose origins date back to antiquity.

Fraghi significantly changed the Turkmen poetic language, bringing it closer to people's speech. He also refused from the Arab-Persian metrics, which was traditional to the Turkmen literature and replaced it with syllabic system.
