Kazakhstan intends to strengthen its policy on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, for which firstly the national legislation in the sphere of export controls should be harmonized with international standards, said Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev.

Kazakhstan intends to strengthen its policy on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, for which firstly the national legislation in the sphere of export controls should be harmonized with international standards, said Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev.

Saudabayev, OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Secretary of State-Minister of Foreign Affairs, made a speech at the next meeting of the State Commission on Non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction Friday in Astana.
"Following the meeting decided to give appropriate instructions to state agencies to harmonize national legislation on export controls with international norms, as well as to further strengthen the nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction" - Saudabayev said.

He remembered that based on the realities of the present day, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev earlier this year issued a decree establishing a commission on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

"In the world was recognized and appreciated the leadership of our President on non-proliferation and reduction of the nuclear threat. Convincing evidence of this was the UN General Assembly's unanimous adoption of resolution declaring August 29 International Day against Nuclear Tests," said Saudabayev.

During the meeting, participants discussed a wide range of issues, including not only the actions inside Kazakhstan, but also in contact with other countries.
Saudabayev stressed that started in Almaty the construction of radiology is a concrete and important step in implementing the policies pursued by Kazakhstan.

"This laboratory will allow to fully study the health of our citizens, and will train the necessary specialists," said Saudabayev.
