The Youth and Sports Ministry held a workshop for about 2,000 young people who will vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections for the fist time, the ministry said.

The Youth and Sports Ministry held a workshop for about 2,000 young people who will vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections for the fist time, the ministry said.

The workshops, launched on September 27, will cover 60 regions and towns of the republic. So far, they have already been held in Shemakha, Garadagh, Khatai, Kurdamir, Shamkir, Goychay, Agdash, Agsu, Khizi, Agstafa, Naftalan and Agdam.

Senior officials of the ministry, representatives of district, precinct election commissions, active young people and intellectuals attend the workhsops.

During the workshops the young people, who first use their voting right, were informed about the history of elections to the Azerbaijani Parliament, national leader Heydar Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Parliament, the legislative basis for elections to the Azerbaijani Parliament, the voting process.

As a result of the workshops, young people got booklets 'Azerbaijani Parliament - legislative body' published by the Ministry. Moreover, a group of young men of full age, got identity cards.

Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010.
