Lia Mukhashavria, Chairman of NGO "Human Rights Priority" brought the Georgian government's response from Strasbourg to the request of the European Court of Human Rights on the incident in Ksani prison No 7.

She said that it was necessary to go to Strasbourg to get a reply from the government. "We learned that the government admitted that a crime was committed in Ksani prison. The Georgian government informed the European Court that a criminal case was filed on the incident in Ksani prison on august 19. The investigation is underway. A medical certificate of health signed by prisoner Archil Sakhvadze was also attached, " she said.

Prisoners were forced to undress in Ksani prison No 7 on Aug. 19. They were beaten severely. The same happened the next night. Prisoners were beaten because some of them have sent complaints to the Strasbourg court.

Prisoners said that this punitive operation was led by former deputy chief of the prison Levan Lezhava and chief of prison regime Gia Kokhreidze. They called for the prisoners to withdraw their claims from Strasbourg.

She also participated in a workshop organized by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
