Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu has today thanked Astrakhan Governor Alexander Zhilkin for his assistance in establishment of the monument to National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The monument to Heydar Aliyev will be opened on Oct.27 during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Astrakhan.

The agreement on the construction of the monument was reached during the Baku visit of the Vice-Governor and Astrakhan government chairman, Konstantin Markelov, in December 2009

Narimanov District Executive Power Head Abdin Farzaliyev inspected several sites for the monument in April 2010. It was decided to erect the bronze monument with a height of more than 7 meters on the embankment of the Volga backwater in the Kirov district of Astrakhan.

Under the agreement, the current square will be substantially modified and the embankment will be improved along the whole coast: from the bridge on Swan Lake to the bridge near the temple of the Holy Prince Vladimir

The project on beautification of the square around the monument is carried out by specialists of the Azerstroyproekt Institute. Azerbaijan has funded this project.
