New Pakistani ambassador to Kazakhstan starts his activities

Kazakh Parliamentary Speaker Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev has today received new Pakistani Ambassador to Kazakhstan Mohammad Akhtar Tufail, the Kazakh parliament reported.

Kazakh Parliamentary Speaker Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev has today received new Pakistani Ambassador to Kazakhstan Mohammad Akhtar Tufail, the Kazakh parliament reported.

Tokayev congratulated Tufail on his appointment and expressed confidence that his activities in this position will contribute to further development of the Kazakh-Pakistani friendly relations.

"Pakistan is a reliable and important partner of Kazakhstan," Tokayev said, noting the need for further development of the inter-parliamentary relations.

The Pakistani-Kazakh inter-parliamentary cooperation group operates under the Kazakh parliament.

Tokayev also expressed hope for the further development of the Kazakhstan-Pakistan cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).

Kazakhstan will chair the OIC in 2011. Tokayev also informed the diplomat on preparations for the OSCE Summit to be held in Astana on Dec.1-2.
