President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today accepted the credentials of newly-appointed ambassador of Japan Shusuke Watanabe.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today accepted the credentials of newly-appointed ambassador of Japan Shusuke Watanabe, AzerTAj state news agency reported.
The ambassador conveyed Japanese Emperor Akihito's greetings to the Azerbaijani leader. During his meeting with the emperor, according to Watanabe, his highness expressed willingness to develop ties between the two nations. The diplomat underlined Azerbaijan is rich in not only energy but also human resources.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed assurance that Azerbaijan-Japan relationship would be successfully developing during the ambassador`s tenure.
The Azerbaijani leader pointed out both countries actively cooperate in a variety of fields. The Head of State expressed hope that economic ties would expand, saying cooperation with Japanese companies is good. President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that political ties would continue to develop successfully.
The Head of State asked the ambassador to pass on his greetings to the Japanese Emperor.
