Azerbaijan intends to develop cooperation with Ukraine in the sphere of military-industrial complex.
"There are good traditions in the sphere of military-industrial complex (MIC). For many years, Azerbaijan has been purchasing military equipment and weapons from Ukraine. We are very satisfied with the level of this cooperation which has good growth prospects," President Aliyev said in an interview to the Ukrainian media outlets the day before his official visit to Ukraine, the "Den" newspaper reports.
"Our financial capabilities are immeasurably greater than in the first years of independence. Azerbaijan's defense expense for the next year will amount to over $3 billion. Major part of funds will be spent on purchasing and production of technology in our country," Aliyev said.
He said Azerbaijan started to create military-industrial complex, now its products are being demonstrated at international exhibitions and exported. "I also must say that it has been partially created with Ukrainian partners' help. There are joint ventures in this area, and we intend to develop cooperation," Aliyev said.
