The Azerbaijani media has few offenses, the facts of "black PR" before the parliamentary elections, Aflatun Amashov, chairman of the Azerbaijani Press Council, told Trend.

"We conduct monitoring before every elections. The monitoring results this year indicate that the violations of previous years do not occur now," Amashov said.

He said that the council conducts a weekly monitoring of the media outlets. The purpose of monitoring is to examine the role of media in covering the elections.

"The purpose of monitoring is to determine the amount of materials, related to the elections, published by media outlets, their area in square centimeters, a genre, to study whether a principle of balance is preserved in the material, the principles of rules of professional conduct," he said.

Amashov has not voiced the number of offenses.

The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.
