Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct.30 / Trend K. Zarbaliyeva /

Instructing professional lawyers to investigate crimes committed in the Azerbaijani military units will lead to the fact that the investigation will be conducted quickly and in a professional way, the military prosecutor Khanlar Valiyev said today in an exclusive interview to Trend.

"So far, investigation of military crimes has been conducted by commanders of military units. They are not lawyers by profession, which in some cases led to a biased investigation of military crimes," Valiyev said.

Several days ago the parliament adopted a draft law on amendments to "Azerbaijani Armed Forces Discipline Regulations", "Garrison and Guard Duty Regulations of the Armed Forces of Republic of Azerbaijan" and "Interior Duty Regulations of the Armed Forces of Republic of Azerbaijan".

Hence, five regional structures, consisting of professional lawyers and situating in the territories of military units will hold investigation on crimes taking place military units.

According to Valiyev, the newly created body will conduct an investigation based on information received on a particular crime by submitting materials to public prosecutor's office within ten days.
