The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) organized lectures on topical issues of international law in Ashgabat today. Their focus was human rights.
Professor Gudmundur Alfredsson (Iceland) will serve as a lecturer at the International Affairs Institute, the Neutralniy Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
The newspaper also stated that "a priority of Turkmenistan's state policy is to implement democratic reforms to further ensure civil rights and liberties."
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov issued an order earlier to facilitate legislative reform to align local legislation with international norms and standards.
