New party may join Azerbaijani opposition bloc rallies

The Civil Solidarity Party is considering the option of joining the Azerbaijani PPFA-Musavat opposition bloc's mass rallies, Civil Solidarity Party Chairman Sabir Rustamkhanli told Trend.

"We are awaiting the results of the elections," he said. "We will plan our next campaigns on the basis of the information that we receive from our observers in the election commissions. Maybe, we will hold joint rallies."

Rustamkhanli added that Azerbaijan "belongs to each and every citizen."

"We must all work together to combat problems," he said.

"The PPFA-Musavat Bloc intends to hold a mass rally on Nov. 9. The appeal was made to the Baku City Executive Power. The Huseyn Javid Park near the Elmlar Akademiyasi metro station, an area outside Nariman Narimanov metro station and other areas have been proposed as the site for the rally.

The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010. Previous elections were held in November 2005. The elections are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.

Musavat is not against the Civil Solidarity Party's participation in the mass rally, head of the Musavat Party's Central Executive Office Arif Hajili told Trend today.

An appeal to hold the rally was received from the PPFA-Musavat Bloc on Nov. 4. The appeal is currently under consideration, head of the Baku City Executive Power's Public Organizations and Political Parties Cooperation Department Zaur Ramazanov told Trend.
