Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov.7 / Trend E. Tariverdiyeva /

Voting for parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan has been organized very well, GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili believes.

"I have a very good impression of the elections. Voters are provided with all necessary opportunities to calmly vote. There is no case of nervousness," Chechelashvili told Trend today.

He said GUAM short-term mission in the parliamentary elections is monitoring in Yasamal Constituency 15 and Yasamal Constituency 16 in Baku.

Chechelashvili has visited the 15th constituency's nine polling stations, and is monitoring in the 16th constituency's 12th polling station.

"As of 12:30 about 35 percent of voters have voted at this polling station, and I don't have any remark," Chechelashvili said.

The process is quite active for the first half of the day off, he added.

According to Chechelashvili, common impressions will be coordinated with the GUAM in the evening and a statement will be prepared on the elections.

Azerbaijan has today launched the parliamentary elections at 08:00 local time.

The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) reported that 690 candidates are running for parliamentary elections.

Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005.
