Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan do not raise doubts in their legitimacy. They are fully consistent with domestic and international standards, Deputy Spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexei Sazonov was quoted by ITAR-TASS as saying.
"We think that these elections fully comply with domestic legislation of Azerbaijan and international standards. There is no doubt about their legitimac," he said
However, the diplomat noted that "the assessment of a number of foreign observers contrast with those of the CIS observation mission, in particular in regard to the comments about the insufficient progress of democratization of the society". We think that this is evidence of apparent unwillingness to notice the work done by Azerbaijan in this direction, " Sazonov said.
